# Export all advising notes

Use this endpoint to export your institution's advising notes, one row per note, oldest first. Deleted notes and drafts are left out. The export takes no filters and ignores query parameters other than `output_format` and `delivery_channel`. With more than 5,000 notes in total and no `delivery_channel`, it runs in the background, and you check its status with [`GET /get_export_url/`](/stellic-partner-api/exports/poll-an-async-export-and-fetch-its-presigned-url.md).

#### Columns

* `username`, `Student ID`, `First Name`, `Last Name`, `Email`: the student the note is about, blank for notes without one.
* `Note`: the note text, followed by `|` and the meeting minutes when there are any. A note with minutes and no text shows the minutes alone.
* `Note Type`: `concern`, `referral`, `kudos`, `meeting`, `review`, or `general`.
* `Assigned To`: who a concern, referral, or review is assigned to, such as a user's full name (or username, when the user has no name) or a group name.
* `Status`: `Open`, `Resolved`, or `Unresolved`, for concerns, referrals, and reviews.
* `Reason`: for concerns, `off-track`, `drop-in-performance`, `absence`, `financial`, or `other`; for kudos, `on-track`, `good-performance`, `improved-performance`, or `other`.
* `Severity`: for concerns, `low`, `medium`, or `high`.
* `Created Date` (UTC, `YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS`), `Created By` (username), `Autogenerated` (`Yes` or `No`).
* `Note Tags` (tag names), `Course Codes`, and `Visibility` (any of `instructors`, `specific`, `student`, and `users_with_view_perm`). Several values are joined with `,` .

Columns that don't apply to a note's type are blank.

#### Notes

{% hint style="warning" %}
**Every note is included, whatever its visibility.** The export isn't limited to the notes the account behind your token can see, so treat the file as containing private advising records.
{% endhint %}

* For large files, choose background delivery rather than returning the file in the response.
* Poll [`GET /get_export_url/`](/stellic-partner-api/exports/poll-an-async-export-and-fetch-its-presigned-url.md) for completion using the same account that requested the export, rather than waiting for an email.
* **Check `status`, not only `url`.** On completion, polling normally returns a download URL. Depending on how Stellic has set up your institution, a completed response can instead have `url: null` and include `absolute_file_name`. Don't keep polling just because `url` is null; ask your Stellic Representative about file retrieval.
* An empty export is a CSV with only the header row, or `[]` in JSON.
